At our next meeting on Wednesday 13th May we will have a presentation from the Development Trusts Association of Scotland.

Members of the public and local community groups are, as always, welcome to attend.

The presentation will be given by Wendy Reid, Development Manager for Scotland and the event is planned to show how a local development trust can bring together the public, business community, voluntary sector and other organisations.

All aspects of how to create a trust will be explained and how it can be formed to suit the needs of local residents and organisations.

The presentation will also help us to understand how existing community groups can form partnerships or other alliances as part of a regeneration strategy, or even how new groups could be formed to take community priorities forward.

Meeting this month will be in the large room above the library at 7 pm.

Thanks to everyone who attended the Clean-up Kinneil Litter Pick this morning. We collected 50+ bags of litter and were delighted with the response from all the local groups - Bo'ness Community Council, Bo'ness Means Business, Bo'nnie Bo'ness, all their friends and members of the public. The age range was from 70+ downards to 2 year olds. We were grateful for the use of a tractor to pick up the heavy bags throughout the estate this year.

litter pick 1

While the amount collected was less than last year, this was mainly due to several walkers who pick up on a daily basis. We should not be complacent.

One of the main problems is dog fouling. Some owners do not pick up "pooh" at all and others who bag it just then toss it away into the bushes and trees.

It would be helpful if dog walkers became more responsible and perhaps by joining the Green Dog Walkers we can educate people and alleviate this problem.

It is hoped that local groups can roll out the Green Dog Walker's Pledge throughout Bo'ness and with that in mind I am meeting Hania Smith, our Community Litter Officer, at Kinneil Museum, on Tuesday morning 21st April at 10 am. Please feel free to join us if you are available.

Thanks again to everyone who supported the clean-up and to those who were unavailable I hope to see you next year and in the meantime please continue to pick up as usual.
