Most areas of Scotland have a community council. Under the Local Government Scotland Act, local authorities were encouraged to help set up these community-based groups to represent local residents. Community councillors are volunteers and receive no payment for their roles, other than out-of-pocket expenses.
Each community council is regularly asked to comment on a range of issues such as:
So if you have a strong view or want to be heard let us know. Come along to a meeting or get in touch with us.
Bo'ness Community Council has 11 members, who represent the people of Bo'ness to Falkirk Council and other public bodies. Elections take place every 4 years and members are elected in this way. When the new Community Council meet they then advertise for nominations from local constituted groups and a further 5 members are selected in this way.
