Core Path Closure COVID-19
We have had a number of enquiries regarding the Core Path at Shafto Place/Barefoot Road. Falkirk Council has given permission to this closure due to COVID-19. This closure is a temporary closure and as soon as the COVID-19 outbreak is over the path will re-open. We understand that notices have now been placed which explain the position. Please do not try to access this right of way.
Falkirk Council has closed or diverted a number of paths across the Falkirk Council area, including in Denny, Banknock and Slamannan, amongst other locations and have closed all 149 Play Parks that it owns or manage across the district. This is being reviewed on a daily basis as more information becomes available.
Falkirk Community Trust has also closed all of the play areas, some sports pitch facilities and have also closed all sports facilities and Car Parks at their parks too, in a combined efforts to restrict the spread of COVID-19. This is being reviewed on a daily basis, when local authorities are updated by the government on any new measures we should be putting in place.
We have also been asked questions about the rights of the public to Roam. Clearly, if a path is blocked and permission is given by the Local Authority then members of the public cannot remove or climb over any structure put in place to block of the path.
If no permission has been granted, and a right of way is blocked, then members of the public can move back or remove only enough of the structure to allow passage. They cannot and must not remove and take away any part of the structure. It must be left in on the ground near the structure.
We hope that this clarifies the position and that you all stay safe at this very difficult time.
